EU and Friend in Need Society launch "Donate a Limb Campaign"

DELEGATION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION and THE COLOMBO FRIEND-IN-NEED SOCIETY have jointly launched Donate a Limb Campaign" today to assist local disabled community . A spokeswoman of the EU delegation here said this campaign was launched to mark the World Disability Day which falls today. She said since 1985 the Colombo Friend-in-Need Society has donated over 20,000 limbs to accident, conflict and other victims. On average each year 750 – 900 limbs are required for the disabled who visit the free clinic situated in Colombo. Apart from providing medical facilities, a transit hostel accommodates up to 30 patients visiting the clinic for rehabilitation and provides accommodation and meals free of charge. She said the Friend in Need society has a different types of limbs .The EC Delegation the Friend in Need society invite the public to support this worthy cause and donate limbs, ranging from Rs. 7500 to 11,900 and meals or donate to the Trust Fund by contacting the Colombo Friend in Need Society.
