Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Mrs Ioma Rajapaksa, President Seva Vanitha Branch, Ministry of Defence Wednesday (3) morning took time off to meet and share their thoughts with a section of injured War Heroes at Colombo Military Hospital.

Both of them were cordially received by Army Chief of Staff Major General Nissanka Wijesinghe and Mrs Anoma Fonseka, President Seva Vanitha Army Branch on arrival at the hospital entrance.

Secretary Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the former career soldier who had been bestowed the Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) and the Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) medals twice for his valour in combat, spoke to recuperating soldiers and consoled them while inquiring into their well-being and other requirements.

Mr Rajapaksa who was also instrumental in introducing the 'zero casualties to civilians' concept when the armed forces launched the humanitarian mission to liberate the East and Wanni from the clutches of the LTTE was overwhelmingly encouraged owing to sentiments expressed by those injured War Heroes under treatment. Mr and Mrs Rajapaksa, along with Mrs Anoma Fonseka afterwards gave away gift parcels to those inmates and wished them speedy recovery.
